Wapakoneta earned its second-ever playoff win last Friday. Tonight the Redskins face the odds-on favorite to win the Division II state title this season.
Trotwood-Madison advanced all the way to the Division II title game last year before falling 44-33 to Maple Heights.
ST. MARYS — The St. Marys man driving a vehicle involved in a single-vehicle crash early Monday morning died Thursday afternoon.
Garet Schmehl, 20, died at Miami Valley Hospital, in Dayton, where he had been taken from Joint Township District Memorial Hospital after the crash at 1:20 a.m. Monday near the intersection of Glynwood Road and Ohio 116. He had remained in critical condition throughout the week.
ST. MARYS — An Ohio senator says he supports a proposal from the Congressional supercommittee tasked with trimming the deficit that could eliminate tax breaks for the top two income brackets.
During a teleconference with regional media, U.S. Sen. Rob Portman, a Republican, said he supports a proposal that would eliminate the tax cuts as part of a bipartisan effort to trim the federal deficit. Portman said in order for the supercommittee to reach a decision, any proposal must be bipartisan.
ST. MARYS — This year’s St. Marys Tailgate for Cancer raised more than $68,000 for cancer research and area cancer organizations.

Margaret Ritter, 70, of 212 E. Front St., New Bremen, died at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at her residence. Arrangements are incomplete and being handled by the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home of New Bremen.
Mary Ramsey, 99, of St. Marys, died on Friday, Nov. 11, 2011. Arrangements are incomplete at Miller Funeral Homes in St. Marys.
Shirissa Marcele Darlene Seibert, 19, of Mendon, died at 6:18 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital from injuries suffered earlier in an automobile accident on Celina - Mendon Road.
She was born on Dec. 30, 1991, in Coldwater to Terry and Darla (Welker) Seibert, and they survive her in Mendon.
Olga Elizabeth (Merkle) Nave, 91, of Rockford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011, at Swan Creek Nursing Home in Toledo.
She was born on March 13, 1920, in Van Wert, to Lewis and Bertha (Parker) Merkle, and they preceded her in death.
In December 1942, she married Ralph H. Nave, and he preceded her in death in 1993.

CELINA — A Korean man accused of causing a collision that took the life of a 3-year-old Minster girl last month asserted his innocence on Wednesday.
Jinghao Xu, 50, of Hamilton, pleaded innocent to one count of vehicular homicide, a fourth-degree felony. Xu’s attorney, Michael Sacher entered the plea on behalf of his client, who does not speak English. Like in previous court appearances, Xu was flanked by an interpreter.
