Paul “Slim” E. Timmerman, 85, of 14492 Kohler Lane, Wapakoneta, died at 3:07 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
He was born on Sept. 2, 1927, in Wapakoneta, the son of Lawrence and Emma (Bonnoront) Timmerman, and they preceded him in death.
In August 1950, in St. Marys, he married Delores “June” Whited, and she preceded him in death.
Tyler J. Kuhn, 19, of Greenville, passed away at 7:16 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012.
He was born on April 22, 1993, in Dayton, the son of Tim and Barb (Bauman) Kuhn of Greenville, and they survive him.
He is also survived by a brother, Tony Kuhn (Amanda McDorman) of Greenville; a sister, Brittany Kuhn of Greenville; his grandparents, Ann and Larry Kuhn of New Bremen and Jeanne Bauman of Defiance; his aunts and uncles, Jamie and Sheila Kuhn of New Bremen, Doug and Lori Harrow of Defiance and Jeff and Daphne Bauman of Defiance; numerous cousins.
Eileen S. Bubp, 74, of Albuquerque, N.M., formerly of New Knoxville, died on Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at Canyon Rehabilitation Center in Albuquerque, N.M., after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
She was born on Feb. 5, 1938, in Celina, to Albert and Marcella Clausing of St. Marys, and they preceded her in death.
On March 15, 1958, she married Gene Bubp, and he survives at their residence.
MINSTER — A local village council received an update on Tuesday regarding progress on a new dog park.
Alex Lundstrom, a Minster resident, spoke during the Minster Village Council meeting about adding a dog park in Minster. Paul Enneking, Dr. Paul Hunter, Marissa Lundstrom and Melinda Utendorf also have been helping Lundstrom discuss the creation of the park.
ST. MARYS — St. Marys City Schools will play host to Alltel Wireless’ Chad this week, as he will make appearances at several events in the district.
Chad will be in St. Marys to promote awareness of Alltel’s partnership with St. Marys City Schools for mobile learning devices, to recognize the football program for its participation in Alltel’s Yards 4 Youth and to promote Alltel’s commitment to helping people save money on their wireless bills.
Chad will begin his appearances with a trip to St. Marys Intermediate School on Thursday.
Charlene J. Kelch, 78, of Eaton, passed away on Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Eaton after an extended illness.
She was born on Dec. 22, 1933, in New Bremen, to Wilbur Herman and Donna (Bartlett) Schroer, and they preceded her in death.
Barbara Lee (Boehringer) Norton, 58, of Wapakoneta, died at 4:40 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
She was born on April 23, 1954, to Paul and Wilma (Riffle) Boehringer, and they preceded her in death.
ST. MARYS – The St. Marys boys soccer team toppled another state-ranked opponent and kept a path cleared to its long-sought first Western Buckeye League title.
Patrizio Martinez Rodriguez’s putback goal with 13 minutes left in the first half was the lone score in a 1-0 victory over No. 6 Ottawa-Glandorf.

NEW BREMEN — In response to Rachel’s Challenge and the findings of a survey last year, a new club has formed at New Bremen High School to give students an avenue to make the school a place for everyone.
Students at New Bremen High School attended an assembly Friday afternoon to learn about the new opportunity.
ST. MARYS — The latest in a string of pilot projects aimed at healing the waters of Grand Lake St. Marys was scheduled to start today.
Officials from OrganicPonds.com were slated to start placing aeration devices in a channel near Otterbein as part of a pilot project. Grand Lake St. Marys Restoration Commission Manager Milt Miller said the project also includes another nuisance that could help improve water quality in the lake.
