NEW KNOXVILLE — The New Knoxville Rangers basketball team survived a comeback by the Delphos St. John’s Blue Jays, and a pair of three-pointers from Haley Horstman midway through the fourth quarter gave the Rangers a cushion in a 52-35 victory in a MAC contest at New Knoxville.
MINSTER — Minster mixed and matched its line-ups, but still earned a convincing win over its rival New Bremen.
Minster defeated the Cardinals 47-23 in a Midwest Athletic Conference match-up on Thursday night.
Minster earned the big victory despite the absence of Kayla Albers and Bridget Geiger, two of the team’s top scorers.
Bath 55, Wapakoneta 36
BATH TOWNSHIP — Bath picked up a 55-36 win over Wapakoneta on Friday night.
Norma L. Miller, 86, of Spencerville, died at 7:05 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima. Funeral services are incomplete at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville.
Marian Albers Holthaus, 83, of Wapakoneta, died at 9:47 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at Auglaize Acres.
She was born on Nov. 8, 1928, in Anna, the daughter of Anthony and Helen (Raterman) Albers, and they preceded her in death.
On Aug. 19, 1950, she married Norbert C. Holthaus, and he survives in Wapakoneta.
Eva Bigelow–Carver, 82, formerly of 524 Locust St., St. Marys, died at 9:50 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
She was born on July 15, 1929, in Langley, Ark., to Lon and Lenora (Cowart) Brown, and they preceded her in death.
