Paul E. Freytag, 90, of Elmwood in New Bremen, formerly of Minster, died at 9:20 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born on March 9, 1924 in Fort Loramie to the late Edward and Ethel (Speckman) Freytag. He married Irene Doorley on Nov. 25, 1948, in Wapakoneta.
Martha Christine Simmons, 97, of St. Marys, formerly of Princeton, W.Va., passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, at Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community.
Chris was born on Dec. 25, 1916, in Marston, Mo., to the late William and Lillian Goodwin Scobey.
CELINA — Two people died in a collision at the intersection of Ohio 29 and Ohio 49 in Mercer County Wednesday night.
Sept. 23: Free Computer Classes will be held at 1 p.m. today at the St. Marys Community Public Library. Three sessions cover the most basic skills from using the mouse to surfing the Internet.
Adults are invited to enjoy some tasty Book Bites at the FJ Stallo Memorial Library at 6 p.m. today. Bring a treat inspired by or from a book you have read. The group will discuss books that were enhanced by food descriptions, recipes, and scenes made memorable with food references. The participant with the best dish will be awarded a prize. After a long, courageous battle with cancer, Jacqueline Sue (Kuck) Ruff, 62, of Sidney Center, N.Y., went to be with the Lord on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at the AO Fox Nursing Home in Oneonta, N.Y., while surrounded by family and friends.
Jackie was born on June 24, 1952, in Lima, to Wallace W. and Marian E. Kuck.
ST. MARYS — Deputies from the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office investigated the death of a 29-year-old St. Marys man on Friday.
At approximately 3:03 p.m. Friday, a 911 call was received reporting that a 29-year-old male was unresponsive at a residence north of St. Marys on Ohio 197. Deputies and Spencerville EMS responded and found the subject deceased upon arrival.
Alma Lee Rhodes, 78, of 14047 Glynwood–New Knoxville Road in rural St. Marys, died at 10:59 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at her residence.
She was born on Sept. 7, 1936, in Little Clear Creek, near Pineville, Ky., to Robert Eual and Verda (Partin) Webb.
On Dec, 18, 1954, in Jellico, Tenn., she married Matt S. Rhodes, who survives.
