Students Collect For Agape

November 26, 2014

ST. MARYS — While they may be Riders, Cardinals or Bulldogs by day, students at Tri Star united as humanitarians against hunger in collecting for a local food drive that donated almost 6,000 items this week.

Teacher Rob Menker said the annual holiday tradition has continued for at least 16 years; the total amount over all the years topped 40,000 after the students’ most recent haul.

Students have collected money this school year, organizing fundraisers like hot dog and donut sales to raise money.

PIQUA — Minster football is  headed to the state semifinals for the first time since that charmed year of 1989, when the Wildcats won the school’s lone state football championship.

The Wildcats won a Division VI regional title with a 35-0 romp over West Liberty-Salem  at Alexander Stadium in Piqua on Friday night.

Twenty-five years later, the 2014 edition is now just two wins away from another state championship. And they’ve made it look easy the last two weeks.
