ST. MARYS — A Lima man has been arrested for his alleged involvement in a string of burglaries in Auglaize, Allen, Shelby and Logan counties.
Mark Ball, 51, of Lima, was arrested this week by deputies from the Allen County Sheriff’s Office. In a news release, Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon said deputies from the four counties have been working in cooperation with each other to locate a suspect in the burglaries.
ST. MARYS — The 2014 Little Miss SummerFest Queen and her court were crowned on Wednesday night in the PAC at Memorial High School.
Fifteen girls participated in the pageant, which was sponsored in large part by the St. Marys Optimist Club.
Randy A. Tomberlin 59, of 617 Royal Oak Drive, St. Marys, died suddenly at 1:50 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, in the emergency department of Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
He was born June 25, 1955, in St. Marys, the son of Don and Susan Jane (Stephenson) Tomberlin.
He married Theresa “Terri” Patterson on March 1, 1982, and she survives at the residence.
Aug. 5: The Toledo Zoo will present a program on endangered animals at FJ Stalo Memorial Library during story time at 10:30 a.m. today.
Lego builders of all ages are invited to the FJ Stallo Memorial Library for the Lego Builders Club. Come between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. today.
The Minster Village Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. today.
New Bremen Public Library will host story time for 3 to 5-year-olds at 6:30 p.m. today.
ST. MARYS — Memorial High School graduate Mallory Kill, daughter of Mike and Carrie Kill, was crowned SummerFest Queen Sunday, in one of the signature events of that kicks off festival week.
“This is actually really important to me,” Kill said after the crowning.
Kill said she’s following in the footsteps of her mother, who competed in pageants as a young woman.
“(My mom) said just smile the whole time, and don’t be nervous,” Kill said. “She just got me happy for it.”
Raymond L. Trogdlon, 75, of 2100 Celina Road, St. Marys, died at 10:47 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
He was born on June 1, 1939, in Wayne County, W.Va., the son of Lafe and Louary (LeMaster) Trogdlon.
He married Altie “A.J.” Renfro, and she preceded him in death.
CELINA — Wright State University Lake Campus hosted Camp TALK by the Lake this week, teaching communication to nine special education students who connect with others sharing similar challenges.
On Friday, students wrapped up those experiences, and said goodbye to new friends, ready to enter the school year more prepared for bonding with students and teachers. The day offered more speech therapy in one day than the students would receive in school in a week, broken up by fun activities.
