WAPAKONETA — Bridget Oen said it’s compassion she’s learned through showing in the 4-H market and dairy competitions as a 4-H member —compassion for the cattle and taking care of them.
Born and raised on a dairy farm, the St. Marys teen said she was looking for something more exciting than the rabbits she’d shown the year before when she started showing cattle.

Theresa M. Case, 80, formerly of Auglaize County Road 33A in St. Marys, died at 12:10 a.m. Sunday, July 27, 2014, in the emergency department of Joint Township District Memorial Hospital.
She was born on Nov. 23, 1933, in Auglaize County, to Louis and Elizabeth (Yahl) Dietz.
On Aug. 22, 1953, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys, she married William M. Case, who died on Sept. 17, 2000.

Mary K. Houser, 82, of Mendon, died at 2:17 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2014, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center, of natural causes.
She was born on Feb. 17, 1932, in Van Wert County, to parents Harley and Violet (Wheeler) Washburn, both of whom preceded her in death.
On June 30, 1951, she married William Houser, who preceded her in death on July 25, 2005.
Edith M. Stroh, 94, of Wapakoneta, died at 2:43 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Otterbein Cridersville, from complications of a recent stroke.
She was born on Jan. 28, 1920, in Wapakoneta, the daughter of Joseph and Sarah (Higgins) Kohler, who preceded her in death.
On July 9, 1942, she married Harold V. Stroh, and he survives.
William “Bill” Poeppelman, 91, of Minster, died at 10:10 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2014, at Elmwood of New Bremen.
He was born on May 7, 1923, in Minster, to the late Bernard (Ben) and Mary (Schelhaus) Poeppelman.
He married Martha A. Knostman on June 27, 1947, in Minster. She preceded him in death on Feb. 19, 2009.
FORT RECOVERY — Approximately 6,000 people will descend on Fort Recovery this weekend for the National Tractor Pull Association Grand National Tournament.
The event will feature truck and tractor pullers who will fight to obtain the top scores, working for weeks to perfect an 11-second pull.
Promoter Nick Dues said a tractor pull involves a pantagraph system of weights, where as it’s pulled the weight shifts toward the front of the vehicle.
Thomas A. Broyles, 72, of Ottawa, and Wildwood, Fla., died on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at his residence at Continental Country Club in Wildwood, Fla.
He was born on Dec. 22, 1942, in St. Marys to Warren and Virginia (Fischer) Broyles.
Roger A. Wiehe, 72, of 751 Deford St., Celina, died on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at his residence after a long illness.
He was born on Sunday, Jan. 25, 1942, in New Bremen, the son of Victor and Marie (Luebkeman) Wiehe.
He married Sandra Fannon on Sept. 11, 1970, in Celina, and she survives at the residence.
He is also survived by two daughters, Wendy Wiehe Hooper, of Virginia, and Kimberly (Tony) Woods, of St. Marys; and by three grandchildren, Darren Sturgill, Hunter Woods and Mackenzie Woods.
