ST. MARYS — Work on the High Street bridge replacement is on track to be finished on schedule.
Crews from Jutte Excavating — the lead contractor on the project — recently poured all the abutment walls, and 10 concrete box beams were put into place. A 21-inch sanitary sewer line under the bridge has also been finished and passed testing.
“They are on schedule and on budget,” St. Marys Safety-Service Director Greg Foxhoven told The Evening Leader.
ST. MARYS — Seniors at the Auglaize County Council on Aging plan to reach out to Ugandan elders across a cultural gap to correspond via videos and letters with people whose lives are affected by combatting poverty and AIDS.
Ethel L. Sudman, 99, formerly of New Bremen, died at 4:10 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014, at The Gardens of Celina where she had resided since 2007. She was born on May 5, 1915, in German Township, Auglaize County, near New Bremen.
She was the daughter of William and Clara (Wierwille) Ahlers.
On Sept. 8, 1932, she married Wilbert Sudman, who preceded her in death on May 11, 2002.
Survivors include her children, Kenneth (Regina) Sudman and Lee (Patricia) Sudman, both of St. Marys and Beverly (Harold) Donovan of Celina.
Merle D. Schuller, 78, of 04912 Salem – Noble Road in rural St. Marys, died at 1:30 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
He was born March 28, 1936 in Putnam County, to Bernard and Ella (Drew) Schuller.
On June 6, 1958, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in St. Marys, he married Carolyn M. Metz, who survives.

Ralph J. Enneking, 77, of New Bremen, died at 10:29 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2014, at his residence.
He was born on March 2, 1937, in Minster, the son of the late John and Edna (Schmiesing) Enneking.
On Sept. 17, 1960, he married Doris Meiring, who survives in New Bremen.

Linda Mae Mabry, 56, of 937 Hendricks Ave., St. Marys, died at 4:21 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014, at her daughter’s residence in St. Marys.
She was born on Jan. 23, 1958, in Flatwoods, Ky., the daughter of Ova and Rosie (Bledsoe) Carroll.
She married Berkley “Cubby” Mabry, and he preceded her in death.
Mary Alberta “Birdie” Edwards, 87, of Sidney, went home to be with her Lord at 1:05 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Fair Haven Nursing Home in Sidney. She was born on Nov. 12, 1926, to the late Wesley O. and Nellie M. (Chiles) Schroerlucke.
On May 6, 1945, she married Kenneth “Kenny” Edwards. He preceded her in death.
ST. MARYS — Firefighters from four area departments spent close to five hours battling a blaze that destroyed a barn along Lambert Road Saturday night.
At approximately 9:01 p.m. Saturday, several calls came into the St. Marys Fire Department reporting a barn fire at 15373 Lambert Road, St. Marys. When crews arrived, they found a barn engulfed in flames.
"Our main concern was the surrounding buildings so we were protecting those exposures," St. Marys Firefighter Jason Noonan told The Evening Leader. "The barn was a total loss."
