Girls Basketball

New Knoxville wins 9th straight, beats Botkins 57-25

BOTKINS — It’s been a cold few weeks for offenses opposing the Rangers.

The New Knoxville girls basketball team held a fourth straight opponent to fewer than 30 points and won its  ninth straight game in a 57-25 win at Botkins on Monday night.

“After being off for three days, cold weather and the bus ride here, I’ll take it,” New Knoxville head coach Tim Hegemier said.

The Rangers held Botkins to 28 percent shooting and forced 23 Trojan turnovers. Botkins was just 3 of 17 from the floor in the second half.

Districts Could See Relief

ST. MARYS — An area legislator announced plans on Monday to introduce a bill that would grant Ohio school districts additional calamity days this school year.

Kathryn A. McBride, 83

January 28, 2014

Kathryn A. McBride, 83, of St. Marys, died at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at Golden Living Center – Valley in St. Marys.

She was born on Jan. 29, 1930, in Wapakoneta, to Hugh and Gertrude (Schneider) Cook.

On Dec. 5, 1953, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta, she married Perry D. McBride, who survives.
