Trick-or-treat in St. Marys will be held from noon to 2 p.m. today.

FINDLAY — The St. Marys boys soccer team is riding its defense along a path of 1-0 wins to the doorstep of the state tournament.
Jared Rose knocked in the game-winning goal in scrum in front of the goal in the closing minutes of the second overtime, avoiding the ordeal of penalty kicks and extending the Roughriders’ season into November for the first time in the program’s history with a 1-0 win over the Maumee Panthers at Graham Memorial Stadium in Findlay on Wednesday.
The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory effective from 4 p.m. Thursday to 3 a.m. Friday. Winds will come out of the south and range from 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 50 mph. A wind advisory is issued when winds are expected to be sustained at 31 to 39 mph or gusts range between 46 and 57 mph.
NEW BREMEN — School officials in New Bremen discovered a written threat at the high school on Wednesday, prompting a search of the building.
In a One Call, Superintendent Howard Overman said as a result of the threat and as a precautionary measure, students may have their bags searched before entering the school today. The building was searched and secured by local law enforcement officials and members of the Allen County Sheriff's Office. School will go on as scheduled today.
ST. MARYS — Trick-or-treat in St. Marys has been rescheduled for noon to 2 p.m. Saturday. Trick-or-treat in New Knoxville and New Bremen has been rescheduled for noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Glenna Mae Meckstroth, 83, of rural New Knoxville, died peacefully at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at her residence.
She was born on April 22, 1930, to (Omen) Bernard and Lena (Briggs) Davenport.
Her mother died when she was 7 months old and her dad and brother moved in with her father’s parents, Frank and Nora Davenport.
On June 24, 1950, she married William A. Meckstroth, who preceded her in death.
S. Margaret Koons, 92, formerly of 730 Hillcrest Drive, St. Marys, and a resident of Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community, died at 1:15 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at Otterbein St. Marys.
She was born on June 3, 1921, the daughter of Joe and Agnes (Lawler) Gearing. She married George Koons on Aug. 10, 1946, and he survives at Otterbein St. Marys.
She is also survived by her four children, Michael (Mary Jo) Koons of Vandalia, William (Nancy) Koons of Chagrin Falls, Jeanetta (Mark) Muhlenkamp of Englewood, and Barb (Ken) Niekamp of Centerville.
ST. MARYS — The Rotary Club’s annual Halloween parade and costume contest will be held today. Judging for the costume contest starts at 5:30 p.m. in the Chestnut Street parking lot. The parade starts at 6 p.m. and is only open to children.
Jack D. Kuck, 83, of 211 Botkins Angle Road, New Knoxville, died at 10:40 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
He was born on Sept. 7, 1930, in Lima, the son of Harvey and Meta (Kuck) Kuck.
He married Jean Feight on July 14, 1956, and she survives at the residence.
He is also survived by his two sons, Matthew Kuck (Janice Dutton) of Wapakoneta and Mike Kuck of New Knoxville, by four grandchildren, Mark Kuck, Christopher Kuck, Natalie Arn and Stewart Kuck, by five great-grandchildren.
