The St. Marys girls tennis team closed out the home portion of their schedule with a 3-2 loss to Bluffton on Monday.
St. Marys has lost three straight home matches by that narrow 3-2 score, with a doubles match making the difference.
“It was a familiar script,” St. Marys head coach Brice Brenneman said. “That was a pretty solid first doubles team we were going up against and we had things going our way, but it slipped away from us.”
NEW BREMEN — The first six children gathered for Paws 2 Read Monday at New Bremen Public Library, with even more children on the waiting list for the chance to read to a registered therapy dog.
The idea is that for struggling readers in kindergarten through second grade, reading out loud in front of a class can be a stressful. Reading with a therapy dog, on the other hand, gives students a chance to practice without fear of making mistakes.
“The dogs listen, and don’t tease, laugh or judge,” Branch Supervisor Shelly Parker said.

CELINA — Both teams seemed on the cusp of breaking through on Saturday night. Instead, the St. Marys and Celina boys soccer teams played to a scoreless tie for the second straight season.
Shots rattled off the crossbar, goalkeepers soared through the air to make vital saves and both St. Marys and Celina — after waiting two extra days to renew their rivalry — ended up waiting all 80 minutes for a goal that never appeared.
