ST. MARYS — A network security expert provided a handful of tips to keep people safe from online predators as the use of mobile devices continues to rise.
Lynn Child, who operates companies that specialize in network management, stressed the importance of online security during a Wednesday afternoon’s St. Marys Rotary Club meeting. Child, who works with companies on four continents and dozens of countries, said the Internet is full of predators who are looking to steal personal and business information to sell on the black market.
Ralph Rabe, 93, of St. Marys, died on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, in the emergency department of JTDM Hospital in St. Marys. Arrangements are being completed with the Miller Funeral Homes in St. Marys.
Brittany Jo Brown, 26, of rural Spencerville, died on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at her home.
She was born on Sept. 13, 1987, in Lima, a daughter of Charles E. Whiting and Paula S. Brown. Her father is deceased and her mother, Paula S. (Trent) Schrolucke survives in Spencerville.
Brittany was a 2006 graduate of the Spencerville High School and became a medical assistant through Allied Health Systems. She was employed as a Blood Services Technician with the American Red Cross.
Dolly Jean Goins, 63, of Wapakoneta, died on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at her residence. She was born on Dec. 9, 1949, in Charleston, W. Va., the daughter of Eugene Earl and Maggie Leona (Dunn) Hudnall, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 8, 1987, she married Raymond Goins, and he survives.
Alma B. Geiger, 94, formerly of 702 S. Wayne St., St. Marys, and a resident of Fort Wayne, Ind., for the past 10 years, died at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at the Saint Anne Home in Fort Wayne, Ind.
She was born on May 4, 1919, in Decatur, Ind., the daughter of Richard and Sophia (Hockemeyer) Thieme.
She married Frederick W. Geiger on Sept. 19, 1942, and he preceded her in death on May 5, 1967.

The Ohio Historical Society will be presenting a special Civil War program at FJ Stallo Memorial Library in Minster at 5:30 p.m. today. Jennifer Rounds will be discussing and showing “Children’s Clothing During the Civil War.” Families are welcome.
WAPAKONETA — The wire mesh barrel tumbles the pink cards around and around.
There are only two names left — Lima’s Kenneth Sturgill and Wapakoneta’s Lucy Zink — in the 4th annual Publishers’ Dash for Cash. The grand prize winner would take home $5,000 and the first name drawn of the last two would take home $1,000. Sturgill says he will apply the winnings toward his car or house. Zink says she will use it to replace an appliance.
