ST. MARYS — Roughrider senior Adam Brown’s football career will soon come to an end, but not before he finishes his last season with the rest of the varsity team.
Football has been a big part of his life since he was 9, and it was always something he wanted to play. Brown’s relatives are all big football fans, he said, and he found it interesting. The most difficult aspect to the game is learning the plays, which are complicated and involved.
Cindy Bonifas, 58, of St. Marys died on Friday Sept. 27, 2013 at her residence.
Arrangements are being completed with the Miller Funeral Home in St. Marys, where a visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
ST. MARYS — Celina’s Michaela Wenning often looks like she has springs in her shoes on the volleyball court, putting the ball down on the other side of the net before the opposition even has a chance to think about a potential block.
The defending state champion high jumper finished off 17 kills in Celina’s 3-1 victory over rival St. Marys at Memorial High School on Thursday night in 25-23, 20-25, 25-22, 25-16 fashion.
Roger W. Selby, 69, of 518 Locust St. in St. Marys, died at 2:04 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at St. Marys Living Center.
He was born on Oct. 3, 1947, in Montezuma, to Wilson and Lucille (Pummell) Selby.
On April 24, 1965, at First Baptist Church in St. Marys, he married Donna L. Zimmerman, who survives.
He is survived by three sons, Brian (Tammy) Selby of St. Marys, Brad (Jill) Selby of New Bremen and Brent (Shannon) Selby of Winfield, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Opal J. Howell, 92, of Mendon, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013 , at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
She was born on Feb. 20, 1921, in Center Township, Mercer County. She was the daughter of Mary (Bachar) and Denver Pond.
Opal married Norval “Louie” Howell on March 7, 1942 , and he preceded her in death on Nov. 29, 1996.
Anna Marie Seger, 89, of W. Cisco Road, Sidney, passed away of natural causes on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at the Dorothy Love Retirement Community in Sidney.
She was born on April 21, 1924, in Fort Loramie, to Louis and Rosa (Eilerman) Seger.
Surviving are two sisters, Alvera and Lawrence Thaman of Botkins and Isabella and John Subler of Versailles; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five siblings, Linus and Juanita Seger, Bernadine and Carl Clune, Rosella and Cyril Monnier, Mary Ida and Delbert Grilliot and Ruth Alice Seger.

25 Years Ago This Week – 1988
This week in 1988, the Minster Wildcats improved to 4-0 overall and picked up their first Midwest Athletic Conference victory of the season when they dropped the Parkway Panthers by a final of 42-6.
The Wildcats scored twice in the first period and twice more before halftime as they took a 30-0 lead at the break. They continued to roll in the third quarter with two more scores and led 42-0 heading into the fourth.
