St. Marys can't cash in on red zone trips in 19-16 loss to Sidney

August 31, 2013

SIDNEY — Those pesky final few yards of the red zone proved to be the St. Marys football team’s undoing in a 19-16 season-opening loss at Sidney.

St. Marys’ offense had first and goal situations three times on Friday night and emerged with only three points in those trips. The Roughriders’ most excruciating failure to convert came in the game’s closing minutes, as St. Marys had the potential game-winning touchdown pass slip through its hands on fourth and goal from the three yard line.

Bader has been blending since fifth grade, when he decided to join band. Watching football games when he was younger and seeing the band out on the field pushed Bader to be a part of that group, which a lot of his friends were doing, too.
