CELINA — For the third time in four years, the Governor's Cup Regatta has been canceled.
Citing a lack of financial support from sponsors, organizers of the boat race on Grand Lake St. Marys pulled the plug on this year's event. The event was canceled in 2010 because of algae issues on the lake and in 2012 because of water depth concerns.
Despite the series of recent cancellations, organizers have said they hope the regatta will be brought back in the future.
