CELINA — Family members of Melinda Shinn recounted all the birthdays, holidays and other life milestones that were taken away from them at the hands of Daniel Charles Martin.
Martin appeared in Mercer County Common Pleas Court Thursday morning for a sentencing hearing and was handed a sentence of 15 years to life in prison for murdering Shinn on Nov. 8. Mercer County Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey Ingraham also added a three-year sentence for a gun specification, meaning Martin must serve at least 18 years before he is eligible for parole.
