CELINA — Troopers from the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol seized more than $25,000 in drugs and a loaded handgun during a traffic stop in Mercer County on Friday.
Troopers stopped a 2002 Chevy Suburban, with Indiana registration, for an alleged speed violation, on eastbound U.S. 33, near milepost 15, at 9:20 p.m. Friday. Troopers detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed several plastic bags allegedly containing 1,502 ecstasy pills, worth nearly $26,000, and a loaded 9 mm Smith and Wesson handgun.
Emily Jeanette Grillot, 85, of Russia Road, Russia, died at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Versailles Health Care Center.
She was born on Feb. 1, 1928, in Russia, to the late Norbert F. and Bertha M. (Pepiot) Monnin.
She married Marion A. Grillot on May 3, 1947, at St. Remy Catholic Church in Russia. He survives in Russia.
Carolyn D. Phillips, 60, of Celina, died at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Celina Manor Nursing Home of natural causes.
She was born on Aug. 17, 1952, in Lima, to parents T.J. and Helen (Benzing) Roop, both of whom survive in Wapakoneta.
On Oct. 28, 1972, she married Russell Phillips, who survives in Celina.
She is also survived by two sons, Marc Phillips of Van Wert, and Ryan Phillips of Continental; two daughters, Melissa Phillips of Celina and Heather Phillips of Celina; a brother; her father-in-law; two sisters; by eight grandchildren.
Thomas Poppe, 44, of St. Marys, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at a residence in St. Marys.
The Auglaize County Coroner’s Office has ordered that an autopsy be performed to determine the cause of his death. Arrangements are being completed with the Miller Funeral Homes in St. Marys.
Lawrence G. Noll, 74, of 12047 Thelma Drive, Minster, died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Joint Township Memorial District Hospital.
He was born on May 28, 1938, in Caldwell, to the late Bernard and Irene (Crum) Noll.
He is survived by twin sons, Mark (Michelle) Noll and their children and Michael Noll; by four brothers; four sisters; a brother-in-law.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Noll; infant son Joseph Noll; by a brother; a sister.
Shirley A. Lageman, 77, of 10357 Kettlersville Road, New Knoxville, died at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys following an extended illness.
She was born on Aug. 3, 1935, in Auglaize County, the daughter of John and Carrie (Christler) Elsass.
She married James Lageman on Feb. 14, 1959, and he survives at the residence.
ST. MARYS — Five St. Marys residents were arrested as part of a recent investigation by the Grand Lake Drug Task Force.
Seven residents total were arrested as part of a six-month investigation by the task force. The suspects were arrested on Wednesday and have been indicted on drug charges ranging from the sale of marijuana to heroin.
Those arrested were:
• Adam Roberts, 23, of St. Marys, on three counts of trafficking in marijuana and one count of trafficking in heroin.
