Judy A. Louth, 77

January 23, 2013

Judy A. Louth, 77, of Spencerville, died at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton.  

She was born on July 2, 1935, in Spencerville, the daughter of Kenneth and Bernadine (Schmidt) Harbison, who preceded her in death.  

On April 30, 1955, she married Russell W. Louth, and he died on Jan. 18, 2012.  

Survivors include three children, Jennifer (Tim) Barnes of St. Marys, Amy (Daniel) Miller of Fremont, David (Linda) Louth of Lafayette; eight grandchildren, a sister.

Leroy Earl Lower Jr., 62

Leroy Earl Lower Jr., 62, of St. Marys, died at 11:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at VA Medical Center in Dayton.

He was born on June 10, 1950, in Kendallville, Ind. to Leroy and Martha (Daughtery) Lower Sr.

Survivors include three daughters, Flora Belle Lower  of Glendale, Ariz., Lydia Lower  of Glendale, Ariz., and Amy Lower  of Winter Haven, Fla.; three sons, Luke Lower of Glendale, Ariz., Reuben Lower  of Glendale, Ariz. and Sean Lower  of Lakeland, Fla; three sisters.

Sharon E. Bakhtiarian, 70

Sharon E. Bakhtiarian 70, of Wapakoneta died at 3:45 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at her residence.

She was born on Jan. 30, 1942, in Portland, Ind., to Arthur P. and Marciel Tyndall–Shull. 

Her father preceded her in death and her mother survives in Wapakoneta.  She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Raymond Shull.

She is also survived by two daughters, Sarah Cox of Nevada and Suzanne Harris of Okla.; a sister, Patricia (Larry) Baeumel of Cridersville; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Carolyn Schultz Hudson, 85

Carolyn Schultz Hudson, 85, a lifelong resident of St. Marys, passed away peacefully on Jan. 20, 2013.

It would be difficult to live in St. Marys without knowing what a wonderful and kind person Carolyn was.

Born on July 20, 1927, Carolyn was the youngest of four children (Evelyn, Howard, Anna Louise and Carolyn) born to Vernon and Carrie Stroh Schultz.

Michael Ray Lang, 46

January 23, 2013

Michael Ray Lang, 46, of 533 N. Elizabeth St. in Lima, died at 8:40 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, in the emergency department of St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.

He was born on Dec. 1, 1966, in Alexandria, Va. to Dickie and Madonna (Meade) Lang.

Survivors include his loving partner, Stacy Fisher  of Lima; devoted “daughter,” Allecia Sawmiller  of Lima; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dickie and Madonna Lang; maternal grandparents R. C. and Martha Meade.

Alice Louise Clayton, 55

January 23, 2013

Alice Louise Clayton, 55, mother, sister and soon- to-be grandma, passed away on Jan. 17, 2013, after a courageous 6-year battle with cancer.

She was born on Oct. 24, 1957, a daughter of the late Walter and Mary Gearing Scott.

She attended Moulton Elementary School and graduated from St. Marys High School in 1976 in St. Marys.  She attended Lakeshore Technical College where she received her realtor’s license.

On Oct. 1, 1977, she married William Clayton, welcoming two loving sons, Jason and Christopher.

ST. MARYS — Trishina Thomas, a mother of three, remembers her big sister, Robbi Burke, in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program when she was a child.

“She had a different lifestyle than I had,” said Thomas, who now has three children in the program. “That gave me hope.”

City Councilor Set To Retire

ST. MARYS — Residents in the 2nd Ward of St. Marys will have a new face representing them on city council next year.

Dennis Vossler, who has served on St. Marys City Council for 18 years, confirmed to The Evening Leader he plans to retire and will not seek re-election this year. Vossler will leave office once his term expires on Dec. 31.

“I knew this was going to be my last year,” Vossler said. “I’ve been at it for 18 years and now it’s time to let someone else take a swing at it.”
