January 26th
William H. D’Addurno, 61, of 615 N. Vine St., St. Marys, died at 9:06 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, in the emergency department of Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
He was born on April 2, 1950, in Trenton, N.J., to William and Elsie (Blom) D’Addurno, and they preceded him in death.
On Sept. 18, 1998, in Fort Wayne, Ind., he married Norma Jean Hall, and she survives.
He is also survived by a daughter, Jessica D’Addurno of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Betty A. Bowersock, 84, of 1321 Celina Road, St. Marys, died on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, at her residence.
She was born on Jan. 17, 1928, in St. Marys, to Ralph and Mary (Ruperd) McElroy, and they preceded her in death.
On Jan. 21, 1949, in Celina, she married Norman R. Bowersock, and he preceded her in death on March 23, 2007.

NEW KNOXVILLE — New Knoxville heads into one of the biggest games of its season on a winning streak spanning six weeks that has kept the Rangers' hopes of a Midwest Athletic Conference title and top-seeding in the Division IV sectional tournament going strong.
ST. MARYS — Auglaize County ended 2011 with an unemployment rate almost 2 percent less than where it ended 2010.
In data released Tuesday by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, Auglaize County recorded a December unemployment rate of 6.3 percent, down from 6.4 percent in November. In 2010, the unemployment rate for December sat at 8.2 percent.
ST. MARYS — A long friendship has spurred the partnership of two area residents who are trying to make a difference in the lives of cancer patients.
Debi Squire and Kim Strickland met in high school, when Strickland moved from South Korea to the United States. Squire took time to teach Strickland English and took her out to social events.
“I didn’t speak English when I first came,” Strickland said. “Debi just put me under her wing and said ‘OK.’ She taught me to speak and corrected my English all the time.”
CELINA — A Mendon man faces multiple criminal charges stemming from a slew of break-ins in Mercer County.
In a news release, Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey said investigators will be filing numerous charges against Douglas N. Fonner, 27, of 5922 Tama Road, Mendon, who is currently being held in the Mercer County Detention Center on charges of contempt of court for violating a condition of bond in a previous breaking and entering case.

ST. MARYS — A familiar face will be helping oversee a million dollar project in the city of St. Marys.
During Monday night’s meeting, St. Marys City Councilors approved the first reading of an emergency resolution creating the temporary position of resident project representative for the southwest pump state project. The position, with a salary of $25 per hour, will be filled by Stan Davis.
ST. MARYS — Local board members participated in an annual districtwide tour Monday morning.
Members of the St. Marys Board of Education, Lisa Tobin, Aaron Braun, Ralph Wiley, Brian Little and Ronda Shelby, walked through the new high school-middle school complex, Dennings Vocational Building, St. Marys Primary School and St. Marys Intermediate School, as part of an annual board trip to see what their administration is requesting — which was submitted in December.
Evelyn E. Grimes, 88, of 106 W. Spring St., New Knoxville, died at 12:42 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at the St. Marys Living Center, following a sudden illness.
She was born on Nov. 3, 1923, in New Knoxville, the daughter of William and Meta Rose (Hartung) Harmeyer, and they preceded her in death.
On Nov. 2, 1941, she married Dales Grimes Sr., and he survives in New Knoxville.
Glenn A. Figley, 90, of Otterbein St. Marys, died at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012.
He was born on Dec. 19, 1921, in St. Marys, to Miles and Edna (Miller) Figley, and they preceded him in death.
On June 29, 1948, he married Ruth Evelyn Hight, and she survives him.
He is also survived by his children, Kim Figley of Ohio City, Kirk (Peg) Figley of Lobelville, Tenn., Mindy (Bruce) Hays of Celina and Kollin Figley of Convoy; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Helen Freeman and June Hanni of Celina.
