50 Years Ago This Week – 1962

This week in 1962, St. Marys native Galen Cisco hurled the New York Mets to a 4-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs in Cisco’s first starting assignment for his new team.

In the victory, Cisco tied a Major League record by striking out four pinch hitters in a single game, in addition to striking out four others in the victory.

The game marked Cisco’s first complete game in nearly five months since he hurled one for the Red Sox back in April.
