ST. MARYS — The county EMA director says he has switched gears three days after a storm downed power lines, felled trees and caused massive power outages.
“Countywide, I have switched from response mode into recovery mode,” Auglaize County EMA Director Troy Anderson told The Evening Leader on Monday. “Since the storms left and the power outages are down, we are looking into recovery. What that means is I’ve been talking with the council on aging to see what the needs of our seniors are in terms of tree removal and brush cleanup.”
Lisa A. Braun, 47, of rural Wapakoneta, died at 6:40 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
She was the wife of Garry Braun.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, Ohio 501, Wapakoneta, where friends may call from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.
Shirley Ann Clark, 69, of 1730 Celina Road No. 17, St. Marys, died on Friday, June 29, 2012, at St.Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
She was born on April 23, 1943, in Clinton, Tenn., to Curtis and Crystal (Butcher) Stanley, and they preceded her in death.
She is survived by four children, James “Henry” Gurney of New Bremen, Crystal Reeder of Jackson Center, James Ogles of Dayton and Billy Gurney of Mount Vernon, Ind.; eight grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; one great-great-stepgranddaughter; two brothers; two sisters.
Gladys J. Chunnic, 78, has passed away.
She married Richard Chunnic, and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sons, Richard Jr. (Robin), Howard (Chris) and Joseph Allan; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four siblings; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by four siblings.
A Mass of Christian burial was held at 10 a.m. June 30 at St. Charles Borromeo Church. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery in Cleveland.
Diane Marie Creeden, 84, of 113 Foch St., Celina, died at 4:32 a.m. Monday, July 2, 2012, at the Celina Manor Nursing Home.
She was born on March 3, 1928, in Lima, to Cecil Dale and Ruby Thayer (Minckley) Mallory, and they preceded her in death.
Diane is survived by her sons, Frank Creeden of Celina, Randy (Marlena) Creeden of Celina; her daughter, Paula (John) Lessick of Celina; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her sisters and brothers-in-law; her brother and sisters-in-law.
Dorothy A. Miller, 90, of Sidney, formerly of New Knoxville, passed away at 2:40 a.m. Monday, July 2, 2012, at the Dorothy Love Retirement Community in Sidney.
She was born on Sept. 23, 1921, in Auglaize County, near Wapakoneta, the daughter of Benjamin and Anna (Julian) Katter, and they preceded her in death.
On Sept. 9, 1946, she married Willis H. Miller, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 2001.
MINSTER — Wapakoneta remained the only team in the Auglaize County ACME sectional tournament without a loss and guaranteed itself a trip to the district tourney on Monday night at Hanover Street Park in Minster.
The Redskins broke a tie with a four-run bottom of the sixth inning and defeated Minster 8-4 in a second round game.
That came after Minster beat St. Marys 4-2 in the first game of the day that sets up an elimination game tonight for the Roughriders against New Bremen.
