CELINA — A local garden has netted approximately 170 pounds of fruits and vegetables that have been given to area food pantries.
This is the first year for the Wright State University Lake Campus Community Garden, an all-volunteer operated garden located on campus.
CELINA — Though Sandra Bohle has owned dogs throughout her life, Abby, a young, rambunctious lab/grayhound mix, proved to be particularly challenging, but Bohle was determined to not give up on the dog.
“From the minute I saw this dog’s little face, I fell in love with her,” Bohle said. “I just felt from the very beginning that she played an important role, but I didn’t know what it would be. I just kept thinking and hearing it in my head, ‘For the love of Abby, for the love of Abby.’”
ST. MARYS — A local resident was recently the target of a scam that involved a person claiming to be from the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.
Lisa Miller told The Evening Leader one of her friends received a phone call from a person who claimed to be from the attorney general’s office. The caller indicated there was an outstanding balanced owed — approximately $500 — and if he did not receive payment, an arrest warrant would be activated.
MINSTER — Jay Eilerman and the Minster ACME baseball team did almost everything needed to move on in the district tournament in just the first inning.
Eilerman threw a no-hop strike from centerfield 275 feet away to a spot near the plate to gun down a Fort Loramie baserunner, and he then doubled and tripled in the first inning to spearhead a seven-run top of the first for Minster.
The Wildcats’ pitching took it from there in Minster’s 7-3 win over Fort Loramie on Thursday night at Hanover Street Park.
