Local’s Art Displayed At Gallery

ST. MARYS — A St. Marys high school student is displaying his creations as part of his first exhibit in a local art gallery.

Mitchell Vires, who will be a senior at St. Marys Memorial High School this fall, is showcasing his origami creations as part of “Aggregate: Chinese Modular Origami,” an exhibit that opened on June 7 at Arts Place’s Collective Center on Spring Street.

Suspect Indicted In Case

CELINA — A Mercer County grand jury on Wednesday indicted the second of three suspects believed to be responsible for a home invasion on Feb. 25 near Mendon.

Michael E. Davis, 30, of Cincinnati, has been indicted on one count each of aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery, one count of theft and three counts of complicity in connection with a home invasion at 12617 Dutton Road, just north of Ohio 117 near Mendon. Two people were inside the residence at the time — Kathy Fair, 47, and her father William Fair, 73.

Henry A. Miller, 78

Henry A. Miller, 78, of Wapakoneta, died at 10:50 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2012, at Lima Memorial Health System.

He was born on Sept. 4, 1933, to Daniel and Mary C. (Knuth) Miller, and they preceded him in death. 

On Oct. 25, 1952, he married Mary C. Kemper, and she survives in Wapakoneta.

Catherine Grundish, 93

The memorial services for Mrs. Catherine Grundish, 93, of St. Marys, have been postponed indefinitely because of an illness in the family. It will be rescheduled in the near future.

Edna M. Frierott, 89

June 22, 2012

Edna M. Frierott, 89, of 7 E. Second St., Minster, died at 6:30 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2012, at Elmwood of New Bremen, where she had been a resident for three months.

She was born on Sept. 28, 1922, in Minster, to George and Olivia (Kleinhenz) Thieman, and they preeceded her in death.

On Jan. 17, 1946, in Minster, she married Richard P. Frierott, he preceded her in death on Nov. 19, 2004.

James Allan Curry, 30

James Allan Curry, 30, of 927 W. Bank Road, Celina, died at 11:03 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2012, at Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater.

He was born on April 2, 1982, in Fayetteville, N.C., to Dave Curry and Brenda (Muter) May. He is survived by his father, Dave Curry of Chapmanville, W.Va.; his mother, Brenda (Muter) (Jody) May of Celina; his fiancee, Amie King of Celina; a son, Timothy Curry of Celina; two brothers; his mother and father-in-law to be.

Update: Woman Hit On Ohio 66

ST. MARYS — A St. Marys woman was flown to a Lima hospital after she was hit while walking across Ohio 66 Thursday morning.

According to a report from the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, at approximately 11:05 a.m., Kathleen M. Jamieson, 74, of St. Marys, was walking from west to east across Ohio 66 when she was struck by a 2010 Chrysler Town and Country minivan driven north on Ohio 66 by Billie J. Cox, 20, of Houston. Jamieson was struck and came to rest in the road.

GLSCL Baseball: Kill's latest stop in baseball journey has him with Mariners

CELINA — Trevor Kill found a little psychological edge for his relief appearance on an otherwise sleepy night in Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League play.

Kill, a Southeast Missouri State pitcher and St. Marys Memorial grad, worked 1 and 1-3 innings of scoreless relief against a Lima Locos team that turned him away.

While he was in there to get some work in during a blowout, Kill  could take pride in his effort on a night little else went right for Grand Lake in a 12-4 loss to the Locos.
