COLDWATER — The St. Marys ACME baseball team got timely hits, as the Riders defeated the Coldwater Cavaliers 6-3 Friday evening at Veteran’s Field.
“This win was huge for the players tonight,” St. Marys head coach Alan Huber said. “One of the things I told the kids this is the level that we have to play at all the time. This is the level that we are capable of playing at. When we stay focused and we are doing the things that we need to do we can be at the level.”
MINSTER — Up and down the line-up, the Wapakoneta ACME baseball team had things clicking in the top of the third inning.
The Redskins built an early seven-run lead thanks to that big inning and went on to beat Minster 8-5 on Friday night at Hanover Street Park.
Wapak scored two runs in the first and then sent nine to the plate in a five-run bottom of the third inning to construct a 7-0 lead that was too much for Minster to overcome.
Lynn Roxine Slusher-Sholler, 65, of 335 Huffman St., St. Marys, formerly of Celina, died at 6:38 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at her residence.
She was born on March 8, 1947, in Logan, the daughter of Henry and Phyllis (Branscomb) Frank, and they preceded her in death.
She was first married to Fredrick Michael Slusher, and he preceded her in death in 2004. On March 7, 2009, she married Mark Steven Sholler, and he survives at the residence.
ST. MARYS — Whether it’s a way to learn a new skill or just some time away from the house to socialize and work on a project, area crafters are gathering at the St. Marys Community Public Library on Friday mornings for a craft circle, and they’re enjoying it.
ST. MARYS — A St. Marys high school student is displaying his creations as part of his first exhibit in a local art gallery.
Mitchell Vires, who will be a senior at St. Marys Memorial High School this fall, is showcasing his origami creations as part of “Aggregate: Chinese Modular Origami,” an exhibit that opened on June 7 at Arts Place’s Collective Center on Spring Street.
CELINA — A Mercer County grand jury on Wednesday indicted the second of three suspects believed to be responsible for a home invasion on Feb. 25 near Mendon.
Michael E. Davis, 30, of Cincinnati, has been indicted on one count each of aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery, one count of theft and three counts of complicity in connection with a home invasion at 12617 Dutton Road, just north of Ohio 117 near Mendon. Two people were inside the residence at the time — Kathy Fair, 47, and her father William Fair, 73.
Henry A. Miller, 78, of Wapakoneta, died at 10:50 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2012, at Lima Memorial Health System.
He was born on Sept. 4, 1933, to Daniel and Mary C. (Knuth) Miller, and they preceded him in death.
On Oct. 25, 1952, he married Mary C. Kemper, and she survives in Wapakoneta.
The memorial services for Mrs. Catherine Grundish, 93, of St. Marys, have been postponed indefinitely because of an illness in the family. It will be rescheduled in the near future.
Edna M. Frierott, 89, of 7 E. Second St., Minster, died at 6:30 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2012, at Elmwood of New Bremen, where she had been a resident for three months.
She was born on Sept. 28, 1922, in Minster, to George and Olivia (Kleinhenz) Thieman, and they preeceded her in death.
On Jan. 17, 1946, in Minster, she married Richard P. Frierott, he preceded her in death on Nov. 19, 2004.
