The St. Marys’ ACME baseball team’s early lead was short-lived in the second game of a twi-night doubleheader against Celina.
Southpaw reliever Cody Vogel made sure the Bulldogs’ rally stood up and the Bulldogs’ early-summer success against their rivals continued.
Celina came back from an early three-run deficit to beat St. Marys, 5-4, and secured the twin bill sweep on Tuesday night at K.C. Geiger Park.

Brandon Miller and Chandler Kaeck combined to drive in six runs in two innings as Wapak rallied from behind for an 8-4 win over Minster in a ACME baseball game Tuesday at Wapakoneta High School between schools that both played in state title games two weeks ago.
Miller and Kaeck were a combined 0-for-4 through four innings as Minster jumped out to a 4-1 lead.
ST. MARYS — Auglaize County Prosecuting Attorney Ed Pierce, in a brief filed Tuesday, asked Ohio’s highest court to reject a convicted murderer’s request for a hearing in his case.
NEW BREMEN — Members of an area swim team packed the New Bremen Village Council chambers during council’s meeting to discuss the temperature of the pool.
Donna Schmitmeyer with the New Bremen Swim and Dive Team questioned councilors on the apparent low temperatures of the pool water during the council meeting Tuesday evening.
William “Ben” Kelly, 86, of Spencerville, died at 9:50 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2012, at Roselawn Manor Nursing Home, following a six-month illness.
He was born on Dec. 2, 1925, in Allen County, to Edward and Elva Stose Kelly, and they preceded him in death.
On May 3, 1952, he married Frances F. Wilges, and she survives him.
He is also survived by two children, Brad W. Kelly and Debra D. (Roger) McMichael, both of Spencerville; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law.
Beverly J. Ahrens, 78, of 5134 Its It Road, Celina, died at 10:40 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2012, at the Celina Manor Nursing Home.
She was born on April 18, 1934, in Detroit, Mich., to Charles and Mayoma (Painter) Cantwil, and they preceded her in death.
In 1972, she married Floyd Ahrens, and he preceded her in death on May 28, 2006.
Survivors include her sons, Gene (Vickie) Pool of Van Wert, Steven Pool of Fostoria, Daniel Pool of Celina, Timothy Ahrens of Celina and Mark H. (Dee) Jackson of Celina; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother.
Richard J. “Dick” Jurosic, 76, of Wapakoneta, died at 7:28 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
He was born on March 31, 1936, in Wapakoneta, the son of Ivan J. and Louise A. (Schmith) Jurosic, and they preceded him in death.
On Dec. 26, 1959, he married Marilyn A. Elsass, and she preceded him in death on May 6, 2009.
