Mary Carolyn McKinley, 93, formerly of rural Spencerville, died at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at the Hill View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Platte City, Mo.
She was born on Jan 2, 1919, in Logan Township, to Philip and Effie Peterson Grassley, and they preceded her in death.
On June 26, 1937, she married William Olin “Bill” McKinley, and he preceded her in death on July 30, 1989.
LEXINGTON — The St. Marys girls track team competed in two events at the Division II regional track meet at Lexington on Thursday night.
St. Marys sophomore Erin Kinkley took 12th in the girls high jump competition. Kinkley cleared four feet, 10 inches.
Kinkley reached the regional tournament after capturing the district title at Fostoria last week.
The St. Marys girls 4-by-800 meter relay team of Sara Lininger, Kristen Dammeyer, Marissa Schrolucke and Lexi Grothause finished 16th in the finals with a 10:45.02 time.

TROY — Minster senior long jumper Derek Collins and the boys distance relay team won regional titles while pole vaulter A.J. Huelsman and the girls 3200 meter relay team punched their tickets for Columbus for the Wildcats on the first day of the Division III regional track and field meet at Troy Memorial Stadium on Wednesday.
Collins captured the regional long jump title when he cleared 21 feet, 4.5 inches on his final jump. Collins edged New Lebanon Dixie’s Ryan Jordan, who had a jump of 21 feet, 4.25 inches.
Owen “Buzz” Noland, 88, of St. Marys, died on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at his residence.
Arrangements are being completed with the Miller Funeral Homes in St. Marys.
Ruth Evelyn Feister, 90, of 1101 Lilac St., Celina, died at 7:50 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at The Gardens at Celina.
She was born on Jan. 16, 1922, in Celina, to Thomas Jefferson and Clara Rosetta (Fetters) Howell, and they preceded her in death.
On Dec. 21, 1940, she married Pharis E. Feister, and he preceded her in death on June 7, 1981.
Survivors include her son, Rick (Rita) Feister of Celina; her daughter, Ann Buschor of Celina; seven grandchildren; two great-grandsons; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law.
ST. MARYS — A young woman is currently on the road to accomplish a feat that many have on their bucket lists— seeing the country. But she is doing it a different way — on foot.
Rae Heim, an 18 year old from Iowa, is running her way across the United States to benefit others.
Heim recently stopped in St. Marys, where she visited The Evening Leader office. She left for Indiana Wednesday morning.
NEW KNOXVILLE — From days of the week and months of the year to numbers and letters, New Knoxville kindergarten students showed off all they learned in their first year of school to a crowd of friends and family Wednesday afternoon for the annual Kindergarten Celebration.
“We just want to show off a little bit and tell you what we’ve learned in kindergarten this year,” kindergarten teacher Tammy Samuel said.
