CELINA — Two area men face felony charges after Celina police officers allegedly found them in possession of a handgun that has the serial numbers filed off.
The two men were suspect in vehicle break-ins in the area of Wilkins Street.
At 3:45 a.m. Monday, officers were responding to a call of two suspects going through a vehicle parked at 606 Wilkins St. In route they were flagged down by a subject near Logan and Elm streets. That subject, Joseph Vian, was the son of one of the victims.
MINSTER — Four runs in the first inning by the Fort Recovery Indians was all they needed as they defeated the New Knoxville baseball team 4-1 in the opening game of the Division IV sectional tournament held at Hanover Street Park in Minster.
St. Henry defeated Marion Local 1-0 in the second game despite being no-hit until the seventh inning. Second-seeded New Bremen will face the Redskins this week in a sectional final.
LIMA — The St. Marys first doubles team of Josh Parker and Kevin Dammeyer finished fourth at the Western Buckeye League tournament on Saturday.
After advancing to Saturday’s action with a win on Thursday, Dammeyer and Parker fell to Shawnee’s Derek Smith and Garrett Diltz in a semifinal match, 1-6, 1-6.
Parker and Dammeyer lost to Rex Axbell and Anthony Kennard of Wapakoneta in a third-place match, 1-6, 1-6.
ST. MARYS — Grand Lake Health System’s Transitional Care Unit (TCU) at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital was recently named in the top four in the state in resident satisfaction.
CELINA — The Lake Improvement Association’s membership drive is in full swing, as the group is working to expand to 2,012 members this year.
“I am very happy to report that the membership is running well ahead of last year’s pace, so the effort that everyone is putting forward is working,” LIA Trustee Dave Eyink said. “We’ve got a lofty goal this year, we want to get 2,012 members this year, which is substantially more than we had last year.”
WAPAKONETA — More than $112,390 worth of drugs — 17.6 pounds of marijuana — was seized during a traffic stop on Interstate 75.
Troopers from the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol seized the hydroponic marijuana, which was grown in a basement or closet, following a traffic stop near the County Road 29 exit north of Sidney.
