William J. “Bill” Koenig Jr., 92, of Wapakoneta, died at 7:20 p.m. Saturday April 7, 2012, at Kindred Hospital in Lima.
He was born on Dec. 31, 1919, in Auglaize County, the son of William C. and Katherine (Frankenburg) Koenig, and they preceded him in death.
On June 28, 1947, he married Lucille M. Bustetter, and she preceded him in death on July 25, 1994.
Ned E. Keiber, 82, of Wapakoneta, died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012, at his residence.
He was born on Oct. 16, 1929, in Wapakoneta, to Earl W. and Hazel (Wellington) Keiber, and they preceded him in death.
On Feb. 9, 1957, he married Margaret June Peak, and she survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Leslie K. (Keiber) Steining and Linda S. (Keiber) (Kevin) Schnell, both of Wapakoneta; five grandchildren, a brother and sister-in-law.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Deborah S. Yahn, 58, of St. Marys, died on Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Golden Living Center – Valley in St. Marys.
She was born on Aug. 30, 1953, in Celina, to Harry “Red” and Evelyn (Francis) Yahn, and they preceded her in death and now are all together again.
She is survived by many friends and co-workers.
Madella F. Schnippel, 79, of Wapakoneta, died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, April 8, 2012, at the St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
She was born on Oct. 13, 1932, in Carthagena, the daughter of Adolph and Theresa (Wuebker) Severt, and they preceded her in death.
On June 11, 1955, she married James C. “Jim” Schnippel, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 15, 2007.

ST. MARYS — An appeals court upheld the convictions and sentences of a St. Marys man who killed another man outside a local bar in 2010.
Judges from the Third District Court of Appeals in Lima on Monday rejected an appeal filed by Gordon W. Diggle III to his convictions and sentences on murder, felonious assault and aggravated robbery charges in the Sept. 8, 2010, beating death of Steven Casad in the alley behind the Friendly Tavern. Diggle was convicted of the charges last year following a jury trial in April.
ST. MARYS — St. Marys’ Wes Taylor knocked in the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Roughrider baseball team to a 7-6 win in the opening game of Saturday’s doubleheader against Versailles.
Versailles used a five-run third inning in the second game to salvage a split with a 7-4 win.
St. Marys rallied back from a 6-1 deficit, scoring single runs in the third, fourth, sixth and seventh inning to go along with a three-run fifth inning.
New Bremen wins two over Anna, 7-6 and 12-2
NEW BREMEN — New Bremen scored eight runs in the third inning of a 12-2 win and Sydney Goens hit a game-winning single in the bottom of the seventh in a 7-6 win in the opening game.
New Bremen improved to 4-6 with the wins.
In the first game, Goens went 3-for-4, including the game-winning hit. Haley Moeller went 2-for-3. Gina Griesdorn was 1-for-3 and scored the game-winning run.
BATH TOWNSHIP — The St. Marys boys and girls track teams both finished seventh at the Jim Ehresman Invitational at Bath on Saturday.
Brennan Brown won the 300 meter hurdles with a 42.58-second time.
Tre Sherman finished second in the 110 meter hurdles (16.09).
The Rider 400 meter relay team of Adam Brown, Will Walter, Tre Sherman and Dustin Fisher finished second with a 46.27-second time.
Nick Durkee ran third in the 3200 meter run (10:45.84).
Alex Mielke took fourth in the 1600 meter run (4:50.38).
Deb Yahn, 58, of St. Marys, died on Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Golden Living Center – Valley.
Arrangements are being completed with the Miller Funeral Homes in St. Marys.
Madella Schnippel, 79, of Wapakoneta, died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, April 8, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima. Arrangements are incomplete at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home in Wapakoneta.
