ST. MARYS — Local third-grade students have been receiving an in-depth look at a butterfly’s lifecycle, as they raised a handful of the insects from larvae to adults.
“We got this kit,” Joni Ahlers said of her third-grade class at St. Marys Intermediate School. “When we got them, they were in the larva stage.”
Her class noted a butterfly’s larva stage is when it is a caterpillar.
“We watched them for how long?” she asked her class, as they responded with the answer.
CELINA — Approximately 800,000 people are trafficked each year, and a major human trafficking hub is just up the interstate.
Robert E. Zeller, 81, of 113 N. Lake St., Celina, died on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at his residence.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Cisco Funeral Home in St. Marys, where funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday and visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Marilyn Sheets, 72, of St. Marys, died on Thursday, April 26, 2012, at her residence.
Arrangements are incomplete at Miller Funeral Homes in St. Marys.
Laura Leona Franck, 94, formerly of Celina, died on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at The Gardens at St. Henry.
She was born on May 9, 1917, in St. Wendelin, to Frank and Clara (Pohlkamp) Brunswick, and they preceded her in death.
On May 4, 1938, she married Leo B. Franck, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 1991.
Evelyn C. Eiting, 84, formerly of Eiting Road, Minster, a resident of Otterbein-St. Marys, died at 2 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Otterbein-St. Marys.
She was born on Dec. 1, 1927, in Maria Stein, to William and Mary (Buening) Overman, and they preceded her in death.
On March 3, 1962, she married Wilmer “Bud” Eiting, and he preceded her in death on April 11, 1973.
She is survived by her daughter Elaine (Eric) Roemer of Ancona, Ill.; two grandchildren; a sister; two sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law.
