ST. MARYS — Senior Tyler Parent is about as involved as a student can be at St. Marys Memorial High School — the 17-year-old participates in soccer, the marching band, the concert band, bowling and tennis.
Parent plays outside midfield on the Roughrider soccer team, and has had some exciting moments this past season.
ST. MARYS — Sherry Warner had planned to do her Christmas shopping in Columbus on Friday, but the snow storm that blanketed the region changed her mind.
“I decided to shop local. I think the snow did everyone a favor,” she said.
Kohl’s associate Shelby Ruppert agreed, as heavy lines transformed the four customer service lanes, normally for returns, into checkout counters.
“This whole week has been crazy,” she said. “Tomorrow’s supposed to be awful.”
CELINA — The St. Marys wrestling team swept a pair of Western Buckeye League matches at Celina High School on Thursday night to run its league record to 4-0 in dual matches.

St. Marys beat Elida, 58-19, in its first match of the night behind five pins.
ST. MARYS — Thursday’s Christmas party at Auglaize County Council on Aging brought about 100 seniors to the St. Mary’s center to watch dancing, exchange gifts, and get pictures on Santa’s lap.
The regulars at the center, however, say it’s not the entertainment or the food, but the companionship that brings them through the door.
ST. MARYS — A winter storm that brought snow and wind into the region, snarled traffic and closed schools today.
“At about 5 a.m. today, all 15 drivers were out on the roads,” Auglaize County Engineer Doug Reinhart told The Evening Leader this morning. “It’s a heavy snow, and fortunately that means it won’t drift as bad.”
Mary Jane Liming, 85, of St. Marys, died on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Gardens of Celina.
Arrangements are being completed with Miller Funeral Homes in St. Marys.
Carolyn M. Blackburn, 90, of Wapakoneta died on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, in front of her residence from injuries suffered from a single auto accident.
She was born on April 27, 1922, in Ada, the daughter of Melvin and Freda (Freymuth) Stinebaugh, who preceded her in death.
On June 21, 1942, she married Guy W. Blackburn, and he died on Jan. 2, 2005.
Survivors include four cousins; three special friends and their families; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great-great- nieces; a sister-in-law, Emma Jane, Ariz.
