NEW KNOXVILLE — The New Knoxville Board of Education welcomed a new face to the school’s administration team, hiring a new treasurer at their meeting Monday night.
Donald A. Smith, 80, of 277 Jack Oak Point Road, in St. Marys, died at 6:27 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at Lima Memorial Health System.
He was born on May 11, 1932, in Wayland, Ky., to Virgil and Rena (Slone) Smith, and his father preceded him in death. His mother survives him in Allen, Ky.
On Sept. 24, 1952, in Martin, Ky., he married Elsie Hall, who survives.

MINSTER — Rick Armon began writing about beer more than 12 years ago, when the features editor at the Democrat and Chronicle asked him to start a beer column.
Donald Smith, 80, of 277 Jack Oak Point Road, St. Marys, died on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at Lima Memorial Health System. Arrangements are being completed with the Miller Funeral Homes in St. Marys.
Laura Roediger, 54, of 7720 Riley Road, Celina, died at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at the St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
She was born on Sept. 3, 1958, in Dayton, to Charles and Nancy Gray, and they survive in Sidney.
On June 4, 1977, she married Jeff Roediger, and he survives.
She is survived by her sons, Nick (Brandi) and Chad (Halleh), both of Celina; a granddaughter; two brothers; a special cousin; her sister-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her sister.
Virginia Madeline Dicke, 82, of Ohio City, died at 9:33 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at CHP Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert.
She was born on Jan. 31, 1930, in Wapakoneta, to Frank Veit and Mary (Rinehart), and they preceded her in death.
On June 5, 1948, she married Donald Willis Dicke, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 18, 2008.

WAPAKONETA — Marion Local sophomore running back Jacy Goettemoeller fumbled away the Flyers’ first offensive snap on Friday against St. Henry. In the fourth quarter Goettemoeller scored a gamewinner by turning a 2nd and 31 draw play into a breathtaking 76-yard touchdown.
The Flyers are living and dying with a group of greenhorns.

Eileen C. Wright, 81, of 509 W. South St., New Knoxville, died at 2:18 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at her residence.
She was born on Sept. 14, 1931, in St. Marys, the daughter of Florenz and Clara (Klute) Schrolucke, and they preceded her in death.
She married Allen “Bud” Wright on Feb. 14, 1953, and he survives at the residence.
