CELINA — For her dedication to Grand Lake St. Marys and to the Lake Improvement Association (LIA), Gayle Meyer was honored with the Guardian of the Lake Award Saturday morning at the group’s monthly meeting.
MINSTER — The Minster Historical Society celebrated the 100th birthday of two Fourth Street buildings Saturday with a new program.
The first installment of “A Look at Yesterday in Minster” focused on the Kramer Building and the Crescent Theater, both of which were built in 1912. Minster Historical Museum Curator Mary Oldiges said members of the historical society, which encourages the preservation of the older buildings in Minster, researched the history of the two downtown buildings.
Marilyn A. Kramer, 75, of 310 Jill Ave., Celina, died on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
She was born on Sept. 8, 1937, in Coldwater, to Herman and Frederica (Boeke) Quinter, and they preceded her in death.
On July 25, 1959, she married Werner Kramer, and he preceded her in death on April 13, 2008.
Herbert “Herb” J. Boerger, 100, of McCartyville, died at 5:50 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Elmwood of New Bremen.
He was born on June 5, 1912, in Fort Loramie, to Frank and Emma (Ernst) Boerger, and they preceded him in death.
On Feb. 4, 1941, in Minster, he married Alma Schmiesing, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 2, 2001.
Linus A. “Linie” Hausfeld, 86, of 193 S. Lincoln St., Minster, died on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at Elmwood Assisted Living Center in New Bremen.
He was born on April 24, 1926, to Aloys and Philomena (Hoying) Hausfeld, and they preceded him in death.
On Dec. 27, 1951, in Osgood, he married Rose Marie Kremer, and she survives at Elmwood in New Bremen.
