ST. MARYS — The long-time council president in St. Marys is resigning at the end of the year.
In a letter sent to city councilors, St. Marys Council President Dan Hoelscher announced his plans to retire as the result of his retirement from Crown Equipment. In order to take advantage of his Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) benefits, Hoelscher also must step down as council president. However, Hoelscher said he would like to be re-appointed to the position.
NEW KNOXVILLE — After a two-year freeze on salary, New Knoxville village employees will soon see a 2 percent raise.
Councilors approved the first reading of the wage schedule, which will begin in 2013, Tuesday night at their meeting.
“We have not given a raise for two years,” Mayor Keith Leffel said. “In July, we told our employees we’d look at where we were at on our income taxes and make a decision. We offered a small bonus at that time. We feel we want to offer this 2 percent (increase).”
Eileen H. Ranly, 81, of Cassella, died on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
She was born on May 8, 1931, in Cranberry Prairie, to Urban and Augusta (Muhlenkamp) Link, and they preceded her in death.
On April 29, 1950, in Cranberry Prairie, she married Arthur E. Ranly, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 2003.
Joseph K. Wilson, 73, of New Bremen, died in the early morning Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at his residence.
He was born on Feb. 9, 1939, in Covington, the son of Robert W. and Frances (Brunap) Wilson, and they preceded him in death.
On Aug. 20, 1976, he married Patricia Krieg, and she survives near New Bremen.
CELINA — Several suspects are facing charges in connection with a drug bust and raid on a party last Saturday night.
The investigation began when the Celina Police Department received a complaint of suspicious activity at a motel room in the America’s Best Value Inn. Officers checked the registered occupant of the room and began observing the area.
