WAPAKONETA — Wapakoneta Police Department officers are investigating a call reporting a threatening comment made by a 15-year-old student to another student while being transported home Wednesday on a school bus.
A call came in at 4:10 p.m. reporting the student had harassed another student. According to the report, High School Principal Aaron Rex had already made contact with the student and his parents and had addressed the situation.
ST. MARYS — A St. Marys native traveled to the Middle East this week to begin a three-year project as a peacemaker.
Jonathan Brenneman left for Palestine on Tuesday to join a team of people working to keep peace between Israeli settlers and local Palestinians in the southern West Bank city of Hebron.
50 Years Ago This Week – 1962
In the biggest upset in the Western Buckeye League of the season, the St. Marys Roughriders upended the unbeaten Coldwater Cavaliers this week in 1962.
The Cavs entered the contest with the league’s best rushing attack and stingiest defense, but the Roughriders ignored all of the hoopla and recorded the 14-6 victory over the Orange and Black, while also snapping their 19-game winning streak.
Robert Evans, 85, died on Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at the home of his nephew and niece, Robert M. and Karen V. Evans in Celina.
He was born on Feb. 27, 1927, in Wellston, to Robert W. and Catherine (Durkin) Evans, and they preceded him in death.
He married Alice Castles, and she preceded him in death.
He is survived by three sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two siblings.
He served in the Navy during World War II.
Ruth E. (Huston) Shadrach, 77, of Celina, died on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
She was born on March 1, 1935, in Chattanooga, to Jesse E. and Barbara D. (Daughtery) Huston, and they preceded her in death.
She married Guy Shadrach, and he preceded her in death in 2009.
Paul “Slim” E. Timmerman, 85, of 14492 Kohler Lane, Wapakoneta, died at 3:07 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
He was born on Sept. 2, 1927, in Wapakoneta, the son of Lawrence and Emma (Bonnoront) Timmerman, and they preceded him in death.
In August 1950, in St. Marys, he married Delores “June” Whited, and she preceded him in death.
Tyler J. Kuhn, 19, of Greenville, passed away at 7:16 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012.
He was born on April 22, 1993, in Dayton, the son of Tim and Barb (Bauman) Kuhn of Greenville, and they survive him.
He is also survived by a brother, Tony Kuhn (Amanda McDorman) of Greenville; a sister, Brittany Kuhn of Greenville; his grandparents, Ann and Larry Kuhn of New Bremen and Jeanne Bauman of Defiance; his aunts and uncles, Jamie and Sheila Kuhn of New Bremen, Doug and Lori Harrow of Defiance and Jeff and Daphne Bauman of Defiance; numerous cousins.
Eileen S. Bubp, 74, of Albuquerque, N.M., formerly of New Knoxville, died on Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at Canyon Rehabilitation Center in Albuquerque, N.M., after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
She was born on Feb. 5, 1938, in Celina, to Albert and Marcella Clausing of St. Marys, and they preceded her in death.
On March 15, 1958, she married Gene Bubp, and he survives at their residence.
