CELINA — Celina Police and Fire departments responded to a call of a suspicious package at the Celina Wal-Mart Super Center on Friday afternoon.  

Celina PD Probes Robbery

CELINA — The Celina Police Department is investigating a report of a robbery that occurred on Tuesday.

The victim, Paul Billerman, 77, of Celina, was at home early Tuesday morning when a man came to his front door. He allowed the subject to come in. The suspect then took the victim from the home by threat of force and left with him, using Billerman’s vehicle.

Rosalyn Ann “Rosie” Riesen, 80

Rosalyn Ann “Rosie” Riesen, 80, of 101 Fochs St., Celina, died at 9:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at her residence.

She was born on Oct. 19, 1931, in Celina, to Melvin Sr. and Minnie (Miller) Hull, and they preceded her in death.

On Sept. 1, 1951, she married Gene Leo Riesen, who survives in Celina.

Susan K. “Susie” Hardin, 63

October 12, 2012

Susan K. “Susie” Hardin, 63, of 11746 Bay Road, Wapakoneta, died at 5:35 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, following a short battle with cancer.

She was born on April 14, 1949, in Mercer County, the daughter of George and Carol (Lehman) Whitehead, and her father preceded her in death. Her mother survives her in St. Marys.

On April 20, 1968, she married Mickael Hardin, and he survives at the residence.

Library Seeks Input

ST. MARYS — The St. Marys Community Public Library is requesting community input through a survey to help direct the library’s objectives in its long-range plan, which will be written by the end of the year.

After a recent visit to the St. Marys Community Public Library, State Library of Ohio Consultant Katie Campbell recommended a survey to help determine what the community would like to see at the library.

Parade To Honor Veterans

ST. MARYS — For the third year in a row, a local parade will honor veterans from the region.

A Veterans Day Parade is scheduled to be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 10 through downtown St. Marys. Organizer John Burd said all local veterans are invited to take part in the parade.

“I’m still trying to wrangle up a grand marshal,” Burd said. “I’ve got the St. Marys band coming and the New Bremen band coming. The St. Marys VFW will also be there.”

Thursday Sports Round-Up: Rider volleyball wins on Senior Night

VOLLEYBALL

ST. MARYS 3, SHAWNEE 1

The St. Marys Roughrider volleyball team won in front of a parent’s night crowd 25-20, 18-25, 25-17 and 25-22 against Shawnee.

“We played tonight as a team and got a win tonight,” Riders head coach Tricia Rosenbeck said. “We played with some intensity and eliminated some of our errors and I was happy with the way we played tonight.”

BOYS SOCCER: Shawnee hands Riders first loss

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — St. Marys boys head soccer coach Dave Ring could only shake his head while considering how the Western Buckeye League title race played out.

A week ago the Roughriders’ win over state-ranked Ottawa-Glandorf opened the door to a WBL title for the very opponent that was celebrating on the pitch at Shawnee High School after beating his Roughriders 4-1 on Thursday.

United Way Sets Goals
