KALIDA — The Minster girls basketball team sat in a 2-3 zone and dared Kalida to shoot the ball from the outside on Monday night.
When Kalida ventured to try to crack open the defense, there was a defensive force in the middle to turn the Putnam County Wildcats back.
Minster center Tara Clune swatted away a half dozen shots and scored a game-high 13 points as the Wildcats had a big second half that lifted them to a 41-26 non-conference win.
ST. MARYS — A local school’s culinary program recently received a grant to help “green” their classroom.
Michelle Langmeyer, the Culinary Arts and Nutrition, instructor at St. Marys Memorial High School, recently received a grant from the Dayton region McDonald’s restaurants to promote healthy eating. Langmeyer’s goal is to help her students see how food begins before it hits their plates or their refrigerators.
ST. MARYS — St. Marys City Councilors put in a little work on Monday.
Councilors approved, under suspension of rules, an emergency ordinance approving the appointment of Craig Moeller as the city’s interim safety-service director. The measure also waived the requirement for Moeller to be a licensed professional engineer, which is a requirement under the city’s codified ordinances when it comes to the safety-service director position. However, City Law Director Kraig Noble noted waiving the requirement has been done in the past.
