Festival Beats Back Storms

ST. MARYS — The annual Holy Rosary Festival battled rain for the second year in a row, but it had little effect on the festivities.
Friday night opened the festival with the food stands, rides and bingo.
“This festival is about friends and bingo — whether you win or not,” Haylee Kill said.
Nick Wilson, an annual entertainer at the festival, combined talents with Troy Perry this year. Their band, Nixonperry, kicked off the entertainment. The Earthquakers closed out the night in the entertainment tent.

Faber honors St. Marys Girls Bowling Title

Walkers Weather Rain For Relay

MINSTER — Despite a rainy, windy start, the Southwestern Auglaize County Relay for Life ended with sunny skies and perfect conditions for walkers.
A series of storms that swept through the region Friday night forced the suspension of some of the activities scheduled during the relay. Teams returned to Minster Memorial Field at dawn Saturday to complete the event that raised money to help in the fight against cancer.

St. Marys ACME wins twin bill

June 13, 2011

CELINA — The St. Marys ACME baseball team jumped out early against its first Mercer County foe and then rallied late in its second to leave Celina with a pair of satisfying wins on Saturday.

The Roughriders swept their two round robin tourney wins at Celina with a 11-4 thumping of Coldwater in the afternoon game and a 5-1 comeback win over Celina in the nightcap at Montgomery Field.

Stella J. Logan, 98

June 10, 2011

Stella J. Logan, 98, of 119 St. Buckeye St., St. Marys, died at 7:52 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys following a brief illness.
She was born June 8, 1912, in Langley, Ky., the daughter of William and Alonzo (Hayes) Hall.

High school hoops season to 22 games in 2012-2013, Riders will play Rangers

Area high school basketball schedules will be a little more packed in the near future.
 
The Ohio High School Athletic Association board of directors on Thursday voted to expand the high school basketball season to 22 games for the 2012-13 season.
 
 Currently, teams in Ohio are able to play up to 20 games. The length of the season itself will not be expanded.

June 11: The Southwestern Auglaize County Relay for Life is scheduled to end today.
A regifting/garage sale will be held from 9 a.m. to noon today in the parking lot of Wayne Street United Methodist Church, 130 N. Wayne St., St. Marys.
Holy Rosary Festival continues today.

June 12: The Soundwaves Chorus will perform at 6:30 p.m. today at the Crown Pavilion in New Bremen.

Holy Rosary Festival Kicks Off

ST. MARYS — An annual festival kicks off Friday, netting entertainment, food and rides for area residents.
Holy Rosary Festival officially opens at 5 p.m., and it will run through Sunday evening.
“This is for the school,” said Rob Menker, a member of the Holy Rosary Festival Steering Committee. “All the proceeds go back to the school.”
The funds go toward operating expenses.
“We could not operate the school without the money raised from the festival,” Menker said.
