WAPAKONETA — Shelby County's sheriff was arrested today on a sex charge.
In a news release issued to The Evening Leader, Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon said Shelby County Sheriff Dean A. Kimpel, 57, was arrested at 8:19 a.m. today on an indictment handed down by a grand jury. Kimpel was indicted on one count of sexual battery, a third-degree felony.
ST. MARYS — State officials on Monday ruled out a reported illness as being linked to Grand Lake St. Marys.
Ohio Department of Health spokesperson Tessie Pollock released an update of the statuses of statewide reports of illness being examined for possible links to Ohio waterways. Officials ruled one of the two reports that are currently under investigation regarding Grand Lake St. Marys as not a case. That ruling means any report of illness cannot be linked to the lake.
ST. MARYS — After months of teetering back and forth, unemployment rates in Auglaize County tumbled more than half a percent in August.
According to data released Tuesday by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, Auglaize County’s unemployment rate settled in at 7.4 percent — down from 8.1 percent in July. The unemployment rate a year ago was 8.6 percent.
