ST. MARYS — A magnitude 5.9 earthquake that rattled Virginia and much of the northern East Coast caused instruments at Wright State University Lake Campus to jump Tuesday afternoon.
The quake struck shortly before 2 p.m. and its epicenter was near Mineral, Va., west of Richmond. The impact of the quake caused a monitoring station at the Lake Campus to jump and the Auglaize County EMA reported receiving numerous phone calls regarding an earthquake.
Louis William Doenges, 91, of 8861 Guadalupe Road, New Bremen, died at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, at Briarwood Village in Coldwater.
He was born on May 7, 1920, in St. Marys, to William J. and Marie (Oldiges) Doenges, and they preceded him in death.
On Aug. 19, 1944, in McCartyville, he married Lucille K. Huecker, and she preceded him in death on March 2, 2005.
The Rev. Ned A. Meckstroth, 79, of Plymouth, Ind., passed away on Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, at his residence at Miller’s Assisted Living, where he had resided since 2006, of natural causes.
He was born on Oct. 9, 1931, in New Bremen, the son of the Rev. Arnold W. and Martha (Katterhenry) Meckstroth, and they preceded him in death.
On Aug. 17, 1960, in Red Bud, Ill., he took Jo Ann Herschbach as his bride, and she survives him.
