Who: Minster opens the state ACME tournament on Saturday at noon against Springfield, the District 6 champion, a week after winning its own district crown at St. Henry over Coldwater in the final best-of-three series.
Earl W. E. Sollmann, 79, of Bradford, formerly of New Bremen, died on Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at Koester Pavilion in Troy.
Earl was born on Nov. 11, 1931, in German Township, to J. H. William and Emma (Brueggeman) Sollmann, and they preceded him in death.
Timothy L. Siemer, 45, of 410 S. Ash St., St. Marys, died at 2:55 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at James Cancer Center in Columbus.
He was born on July 29, 1965, in Lima, to Ned and Darlene (Burnett) Siemer, and his father preceded him in death. His mother survives him.
On March 18, 1993, in St. Marys, he married Jammie S. Weiler, and she survives him.
Walter H. Stinebaugh, 88, of Wapakoneta, died at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at the Wapakoneta Manor, surrounded by his family.
He was born on Oct. 22, 1922, in Auglaize County, the son of Oscar and Edith (Weadock) Stinebaugh, and they preceded him in death.
On Nov. 21, 1942, he married Jean (Cogan) Stinebaugh, and she preceded him in death on April 4, 2002.
ST. MARYS — An Ohio Senator says while he is hopeful a deal will get done regarding Congress’ impasse on raising the debt ceiling, any deal must include a cut in spending.
CRIDERSVILLE — Cridersville Police Chief John Drake is hoping the public can help in identifying two males that broke into a store early Thursday morning.
“We have a real good image on the video surveillance camera of the two suspects that broke into the Community Market store in Cridersville,” Drake said after the break-in at 12:25 a.m. Thursday. “I am hoping somebody can identify the suspects.”

ST. MARYS — An Auglaize County commissioner is the new athletic director at St. Marys.
WAPAKONETA — A St. Marys man will spend 25 years to life in prison as consecutive sentences were passed down during sentencing Wednesday.
Gordon W. Diggle III was sentenced to a 10-year prison term on a charge of aggravated robbery to be served consecutively with a 15-year to life term on a murder charge for the beating death of Steven Casad on Sept. 8 in the alley of the Friendly Tavern.
CELINA — Grand Lake entered a four-game home stretch this week hoping to make up ground on the playoff contenders in the GLSCL. Instead, the Mariners’ dimming playoff hopes flickered even more as they lost their eighth out of last 10 games on Wednesday night.
The Lima Locos methodically downed the Mariners 8-1 on another hot, hazy night at Jim Hoess Field in Celina.
Grand Lake (10-18) dropped to 1-2 on the current homestand — with only a make-up game tonight against South Division leader Southern Ohio left to make up ground.
Robert H. Hegemier, 88, of 1909 Kishler Drive, St. Marys, died at 2:15 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at St. Marys Living Center.
He was born on Jan. 12, 1923, in Ansonia, to Emil and Martha (Vogel) Hegemier, and they preceded him in death.
On May 27, 1944, at Walnut Grove Methodist Church in rural Auglaize County, he married Mary Lea Schamp, and she survives him.
