Opportunity knocked for both the St. Marys and Minster ACME baseball teams on Thursday night.
St. Marys reliever Codie Deaton kept the door shut in the fifth inning and the Roughrider bats blew the game wide open in the bottom of the sixth inning.
St. Marys sent nine to the plate in the bottom of the sixth inning to break open a previously tied game with five runs to deliver a St. Marys’ 9-4 win over Minster.

Grand Lake Mariners 13, Lake Erie Monarchs 10
CELINA — The Grand Lake Mariners’ early offensive exploits were enough to hold off the Lake Erie Monarchs in a wild Great Lakes Collegiate Summer League game at Jim Hoess Field on Thursday night.
The Mariners (2-4) scored five runs in the bottom of the second and six runs in the fourth to propel them to a 13-10 win.
Samuel Cassius Green, 52, of Wapakoneta, died at 5:30 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2011, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Schlosser Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 615 N. Dixie Highway, Wapakoneta, where arrangements are incomplete at this time.
ST. MARYS — Two authors stopped at a local library to speak on a writer with ties to the area who was a household name in his prime, as part of a presentation Thursday evening.
Paul J. Bauer and Mark Dawidziak presented on their biography on St. Marys native Jim Tully, titled “Jim Tully: American Writer, Irish Rover, Hollywood Brawler,” at the St. Marys Community Public Library.
CELINA — The city of Celina and SolarVision, LLC, broke ground on the Celina Renewable Energy Center Thursday, marking the beginning of construction on the sixth and largest solar power installation for SolarVision in Ohio.
SolarVision President Greg Kuss said the center is a unique project.
“This is the only installation like this in the world that I’m aware of,” Kuss said. “This is a historic day. This doesn’t happen every day”

NEW BREMEN — A local village recently named a new official to its ranks, as the former employee recently relocated to the East Coast.
Angela Hamberg was recently hired as the economic development director, and she was officially sworn into the position last week
Hamberg, who lives in New Bremen with her husband, Joe, and her three sons, Andrew Micheal, Cole Hamberg and Benjamin Hamberg, said she went for the position because of her ties with the community.
“I have lived in New Bremen for 13 years,” Hamberg said.
ST. MARYS — A new addition to K.C. Geiger Park should be open for play in the coming weeks.
During a parks and recreation meeting earlier this year, a group of residents inquired about the feasibility of installing a frisbee golf course at K.C. Geiger Park. St. Marys Safety-Service Director Tom Hitchcock green-lit the plan and said he expected the course to open soon.
Stephen “Steve” W. Weadock, 62, of 1218 Taft St., Sidney, passed away at noon on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at his resdience.
He was born on Oct. 23, 1948, in Celina, the son of the late Jerome Weadock and Ruby (Huffman) Weadock, who survives him in St. Marys.
He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Ruth (Ronald) Langsdon of St. Marys; a brother, Michael (Barbara) Weadock of St. Marys.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia De Mora.
