Francis L. Smith, 97, of 217 E. Oak St., Celina, died at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at the Gardens of Celina.
He was born on Nov. 19, 1913, in Coldwater, to Louis and Caroline (Schwartz) Smith, and they preceded him in death.
On Oct. 18, 1937, he married Anna Margaret Zender, and she preceded him in death on March 2, 2007.
He is survived by a son, Patrick (Janet) Smith of Celina; two daughters, Judy (Joe) Otte of North Star and Elaine (Jim) Loughridge of Coldwater; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren.
Donna Jean Becker Doseck, 88, of rural Spencerville, died at 2:49 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at the St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
She was born on Aug. 18, 1922, in Salem Township, to George E. and Nellie M. (Hays) Becker, and they preceded her in death.
On April 5, 1947, she married William A. Doseck, and he preceded her in death on June 29, 2001.
William G. Holtzhauer, 79, formerly of 1709 Kingsbury Drive, St. Marys, died on Sunday, June 26, 2011, at St. Joseph Hospice in Lexington, Ky.
He was born on Aug. 27, 1931, in St. Marys, the son of Charles and Zeitha (Richards) Holtzhauer, and they preceded him in death.
On Jan. 14, 1961, he married Carol Nolan, and she preceded him in death on March 16, 1995.
Marie L. Cordier, 82, formerly of 08361 Burd Road, Celina, died at 7 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2011, at Hospice of Dayton.
She was born on Dec. 7, 1928, in Wapakoneta, to Guy and Alma (Sandkuhl) Benzing, and they preceded her in death.
On May 24, 1954, in St. Marys, she married Paul F. Cordier, and he preceded her in death on June 22, 2000.
NEW BREMEN — Area village councilors voted to explore the options for an electric substation, as they passed the first reading of a resolution to seek engineering, during their meeting Tuesday evening.
New Bremen Village Councilors passed the first reading of a resolution to authorize Village Administrator Wayne York to seek engineering for upgrades to the village’s Herman Street Substation.
MINSTER — One phone call and five minutes — that’s all it took for Ohio’s governor to get a handful of engineers jobs at Dannon in Minster Tuesday afternoon.
In a visit touting development and investment in Ohio, Gov. John Kasich helped Dannon land engineers to fit its needs at the Minster plant. The job opportunities surfaced during a tour of the plant when the plant manager noted he needed some engineers. Kasich called Ohio State University President E. Gordon Gee who pledged his support.
ST. MARYS — Bryan Householder teaches Spanish to approximately 200 students located all over Ohio at the same time.
He is a teacher for Electronic Classroom of Tomorrow (ECOT) and teaches his students in an online environment.
After completing his master’s degree online, Householder, a St. Marys resident, said he was intrigued by teaching online classes because of his interests in teaching, Spanish and web design.

WAPAKONETA — With five runs in the last two innings the Wapakoneta ACME baseball team overcame a 5-2 lead to defeat New Bremen 7-5 Tuesday evening at Wapakoneta.
“It was an ugly game at the start,” Wapakoneta assistant coach Nick Sammetinger said. “We got it done in the end with clutch hits and got the runs when we needed them.”
New Bremen coach Logan O’Neil pointed to some mistakes late in the game but praised his team’s effort.
