ST. MARYS — Beginning in January, area crafters will have a meeting place to socialize with fellow crafters while working on their latest creation.
The St. Marys Community Public Library will host Friday Morning Handicraft Time starting Jan. 7. Adult Services Coordinator Beth Keuneke said the meeting will fill a void in the community.
“There are other places — not right in this community — that do have knitting circles and that kind of thing,” Keuneke said. “I thought I’d try it and see if it would work here.”
ST. MARYS — A St. Marys teacher was named the top teacher for 2011 by a local organization.
St. Marys VFW Post 9289 recently named Kathy Jeffries its Teacher of the Year. Jeffries, a special education teacher, teaches at St. Marys Memorial High School.
“First they have a local winner, and then that winner goes on to the district level and could go on to the state and national level,” Jeffries said.
